'Tis the season at DDAWG meeting
The discussion at Wednesday night's Dartmouth Dog Advisory Work Group (DDAWG) meeting centered on fundraising efforts.
The committee has raised more than $4,700. Funds raised by the group, an independent non-profit, are separate from the Stanton Foundation grant given to them, and will go toward maintenance of the park.
Potential voting points were derailed because only six members of the board were present and nothing could be voted on without seven members present. However, ideas for future fundraisers were pitched by the present committee members.
With the holiday season on its way, the group had gift-giving in mind while brainstorming fundraiser ideas. One idea was selling Bravelets to benefit DDAWG. Bravelets is a for-profit organization that creates and sells jewelry and donates $10 to an associated cause.
Another popular idea was a dog calendar for the new year. While creating a calendar could be a potentially labor intensive endeavor, the idea was well-liked, as were photos with Santa.
No definitive plans were made but the board adjourned with the task of further researching potential fundraising schemes.
The next meeting will be held on Nov. 4.
