Town to fell 20 Tucker Road trees

May 5, 2017

Following a few, powerful winter storms that brought down trees and knocked out power for Tucker Road residents, the Department of Public Works and Eversource have a solution.

Within the next two weeks, the team will begin taking down trees along the route, with a replacement project planned for the fall.

“Our goal is to work with Eversource to get the trees down before they come down on their own,” said DPW Director David Hickox.

He said the project targets about 20 trees, mostly ash trees, that are either dead or rotting.

“Many of them are very old, and at the end of their lifespan. They're coming down because they're dangerous,” said Hickox.

Hickox said the road will not be closed, but drivers can expect traffic to be limited to one lane.

The project is a response to the unprecedented amount of falling trees in late February and early March.
