Got heat?

Dartmouth is now offering a fuel assistance program to help pay residents’ gas heating bills this winter.

Interim Director of Development Cody Haddad told the Select Board at a Jan. 4 meeting that the town has received $20,000 in funding for natural gas assistance for residents, and will grant up to $300 per household in direct payments to gas providers.

Haddad said that thus far he has received around five applications, with 64 grants available.

“It’s one of those things where the state basically says use it or lose it,” he told the board.

Preference will be given to applicants who have a household income between 60 and 80 percent of the state’s median income level or have been afflicted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

To apply, visit the Town of Dartmouth website (town.dartmouth.ma.us) or contact interim Development Director Cody Haddad at chaddad@town.dartmouth.ma.us or (508) 910-1883.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, but priority will be given to applications received by 2 p.m. on Jan. 11. If there are still funds available after Feb. 19, the program will allow recipients to apply for another voucher.
