Town soon to receive ‘.gov’ status with web of benefits

Jul 26, 2024

Dartmouth will soon possess a “.gov” domain for its website following an over $20,000 grant from the State Municipal Cybersecurity Program, announced Chris Vitale, interim co-town administrator.

“It’s a big change,” he said. The current website “town.dartmouth.ma.us” will soon be simplified to “dartmouthma.gov.” Additionally, the town’s email addresses will follow suit.

“This will obviously make it easier for people to find us, communicate with us, it offers an additional layer of security and it increases public confidence that they know for a fact that we are a government agency and it’s an official government website.”

It is not yet clear when this change will go into effect, but Vitale said the town will have more information coming in the future.
