Tri-County Music Association awards scholarships to two Dartmouth musicians

The Tri-County Music Association’s has announced its winners of the John R. Pandolfi Scholarship. Among the five scholarship recipients are Dartmouth residents Pedro Silva and Drew Lassey.

Since 1962, the association has awarded $12,000 per year to student musicians at the high school and collegiate levels with summer grants and scholarships.

 Silva is a current member of the Tri-County Symphonic Band and a sophomore at UMass Dartmouth. He started out as an electrical engineer major before determining that music education was his passion.

He has a varied interest in music ranging from jazz to classical to traditional world music. As an immigrant from the Azores, he holds Portuguese folk dancing close to who he is.

Lassey is a senior at Dartmouth High School where he plays bass and trombone. He ​will be attending UMass Lowell and intends to major in Music Education.
