UMass basketball player named conference Player of the Week twice in a row
UMass Dartmouth junior guard Jordan Moretti earned her second straight nod as the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Feb. 15 for her performance in a pair of home contests last week.
According to a press release, the Johnston, R.I. native averaged 20 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in the two games, including 24 points, five boards and four assists in last Saturday’s 70-62 victory over Castleton.
On Feb. 10 Moretti also earned a double-digit total in two categories with 16 points, 14 rebounds and five assists in a 66-64 non-league setback to Babson at the Tripp Athletic Center.
This season Moretti leads the Little East in assists per game (6.0) and ranks second in scoring (15.8 points per game) and fourth in rebounding (8.8).
She has helped Head Coach Matt Ducharme’s squad post a 2-3 overall mark that includes a 2-2 conference slate, as the Corsairs return to action on Sunday afternoon with a Little East clash against Keene State in Keene, N.H. that tips-off at 2 p.m. on Feb. 21.
