NEW BEDFORD — The UMass Dartmouth University Art Gallery at the Star Store in New Bedford is honoring the legacy of Ira Cohen, a live model who inspired multiple generations of artists at UMass Dartmouth with an exhibit titled, “Ira: 30 Years of Standing Still.”

The University solicited artwork from current and former UMass Dartmouth art students who have used Cohen as a model over the years.

The exhibit will feature drawings, paintings and sculpture that used Cohen as a direct inspiration. Guest artists include Carl Simmons and Mark Dion. 

The show’s opening reception will be held on Thursday, June 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 715 Purchase Street, New Bedford. The show will close on Sunday, Sept. 3.
