UMass Dartmouth honors two for commitment to civic engagement
On April 28, UMass Dartmouth recognized two members of the South Coast community who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to civic engagement. Morgan James Peters (aka, Mwalim), a UMass Associate Professor and Director of the African & African American Studies, and Bristol County Savings Bank’s Michele L. Roberts were honored. Peters received the Faculty Civic Leadership Award and Roberts received the Community Member Civic Leadership Award.
The Faculty Civic Leadership Award recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated a sustained commitment to civic engagement. Peters was nominated for demonstrating success in creating active learning opportunities that benefit both university students and the community.
The Community Member Civic Leadership Award recognizes a community member who has demonstrated sustained civic leadership and demonstrated the community member’s success in creating sustained positive community impact or public policy change.
