UMass Dartmouth launches free tuition program for students in need
Approximately 1,500 students will have their tuition and mandatory fees paid for up to four years in a new initiative launched by UMass Dartmouth beginning Fall 2025, the university announced Tuesday, Oct. 29.
The UMass Dartmouth Deal aims to provide financial assistance to high-need, in-state undergraduates as well as networking opportunities and academic support while offering chances for other scholarships to accommodate the cost of books and housing.
Massachusetts students whose families make less than $75,000 annually will qualify for the program. Additionally, the student must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at UMass Dartmouth and have a high school GPA that meets or exceeds 2.7.
The initiative is funded by the state’s MassGrant Program. For more information, visit umassd.edu/deal.
"I want to thank the Healey-Driscoll Administration and the Massachusetts Legislature for their commitment to public higher education,” said Chancellor Mark A. Fuller. “As a first-generation college student myself, I know from personal experience that a college degree is the springboard to personal and professional success. It changes lives and transforms communities.”
He added, “Through this initiative and the support of the MASSGRANT program, UMass Dartmouth is committed to ensuring that Massachusetts students from working families have the opportunity to get a world-class education at UMass Dartmouth.”
