The UMass Dartmouth Police Department is investigating after two people were assaulted on campus on Dec. 5.

According to police, a woman approached a car at around 10:30 p.m. on Cedar Dell Road, and was assaulted by a man who had gotten out of the car. Multiple bystanders who witnessed the assault intervened, and a second man attacked one of the bystanders.

The suspects fled in a white or silver sedan. No serious injuries were reported. It is believed one of the suspects took personal effects belonging to the bystander who was attacked.

UMass Dartmouth Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the assaults to contact the department at (508) 999-8107 or visit umassd.edu/publicsafety/ to report information online.
