University installs Bloomberg terminals for business students
Business students at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth are getting real-world training in stocks with the aid of a new technology lab.
The lab opened in the Charlton College of Business Learning Pavilion on February 23, and features 12 Bloomberg terminals. The specialized computers connect to the financial company’s electronic trading and market analysis platform.
This allows students to access real-time and in-depth data on virtually any aspect of the stock market, as well as buy and sell stocks, and monitor trends, said university spokesman John Hoey. It is the same system professional stock brokers and financial analysts use, giving students valuable hands-on experience, he added.
“Students can learn all the information he or she needs to know about making smart investment decisions,” said Hoey.
Hoey said funding for the terminals came from a revenue sharing agreement with the college’s Professional and Continuing Education program.
