After entering the NCAA Div. 3 tournament for the first time in its 40-year history, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women’s basketball team was knocked out of its tournament run with a 73-33 loss against Amherst College on March 11.

In the first quarter of the sectional finals, Amherst picked up a 22-2 lead over UMass Dartmouth. The Corsairs struggled to put points up for the remainder of the game. The team scored 12 points in the second quarter, 11 points in the third quarter, and eight points in the fourth quarter, but were consistently outscored by Amherst’s offensive abilities.

After a surprise entry into the tournament, The Corsairs took a 71-64 win against La Roche College. The team then bested Montclair State (71-63) before facing SUNY New Paltz (67-57), and finally fell to Amherst College.
