University's food pantry, ribbon cutting on March 29
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Arnie’s Cupboard, the campus food pantry, on Wednesday, March 29, 12-4 p.m.
The mission of Arnie’s Cupboard is to alleviate food insecurity among university students, faculty and staff by providing emergency food and educational resources to members of the UMass Dartmouth community. Arnie’s Cupboard aims to create a safe space to distribute quality and nutritious emergency food while encouraging student engagement, volunteerism and service to peers. The initiative will also promote sustainability on campus by collecting donations that may otherwise go to waste. Arnie’s Cupboard also hopes to raise awareness for food justice.
Arnie’s Cupboard, named for the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Mascot, will be open Monday thru Friday and is a volunteer-based program. Donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries are accepted from noon to 4 p.m. during drop off hours or any time at donation box locations on campus.
The ceremony is open to the UMass Dartmouth community and tours of Arnie’s Cupboard along with light refreshments will be offered.
Arnie’s Cupboard is located in Room 208 in the Main Auditorium Building.
