Upcoming DNRT events

Aug 6, 2019
Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust will be finishing up its annual calendar contest for the 2020 calendar on August 16. Submit your best photos taken on or of a DNRT reserve to kendra@DNRT.org with the subject “DNRT Calendar Photo Contest.” Photos must be high-resolution and may include people, animals, plants, historical features, or landscapes in any season. Entrants can submit up to eight photos. Please include name, address, phone number, where the photos were taken, and any comments about the shots.

On August 24, DNRT will be celebrating its 14th Annual Barn Bash from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Sylvan Nursery Barn on Horseneck Rd. The non-profit’s biggest fundraiser of the year includes ten food and drink vendors and live music from bluegrass band Four Bridges, plus a silent auction of nearly 80 items. The cost is $90 for a regular ticket, $150 for a Donor ticket, or $250 for a Sponsor ticket. Donors and Sponsors will be listed in the event program. Buy tickets online at DNRT.org.

Allen’s Mill will be holding a free Open House on Saturday, September 7, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at their Slades Corner Rd. location for visitors to tour and learn about the historic property. The mill was in operation as early as 1711, and used millstones weighing around 2,000 pounds to grind corn, wheat, and rye. Learn more at dnrt.org/allensmill.

Also on September 7, DNRT Land Steward Leah Howard will lead a Grange Walk at 11 a.m., hiking from the Dartmouth Grange at 1133 Fisher Road through Destruction Brook Woods. This walk will be happening during the Dartmouth Grange Fair, so remember to meet at the Grange, and not the Slades Corner Road Entrance. After the walk, participants will be able to enjoy an afternoon at the fair.
