Updated: 911 system restored statewide
On the afternoon of Tuesday, June 18, emergency services sent out a notification that Dartmouth’s 911 emergency call service was down. According to the Massachusetts State Police, as of 4 p.m., the outage has been resolved and 911 service has been restored.
The lapse was part of an outage in the state’s 911 system, which left towns across Massachusetts without the ability to use the line to call emergency services.
According to the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, the state 911 department was “aware of a disruption to the 911 system and is investigating the cause.”
Following restoration of services, it wrote, “The public may now resume calling 911 for emergencies. Thank you for your patience.”
A statewide public safety alert said that the outage may lead to delays in public safety response.
