Virtual Startup Weekend at UMass Dartmouth

Jan 28, 2021

UMass Dartmouth students and students from around the globe will be pitching 30-second startup ideas online for Startup Weekend, a free, 54-hour online event on Feb. 19-21.

Starting Friday evening, attendees can pitch a startup idea in 30 seconds for fellow attendees to vote on their favorites.

Small groups then form teams to work on the best ideas through Sunday evening.

Participants and their team members will create a prototype of an idea, validate the business idea, and receive feedback from experienced entrepreneurs.

Findings are presented to a panel of judges. The best startups are awarded prizes, which may consist of support from companies.

This is the sixth year the university is hosting the global event, which is sponsored by US-based startup accelerator Techstars and sees roughly 428,000 participants from more than 150 countries.

Startup Weekend has helped kickstart more than 500 companies and over 15,000 entrepreneurs.

Anyone interested in the South Coast entrepreneurial community is welcome to participate.
