The Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District unanimously appointed Anthony Novelli as executive director, effective immediately. Novelli joined the district as a project manager in 2022 and was promoted to assistant executive director in 2023, with the plan to replace outgoing executive director Scott Alfonse. 

Mr. Alfonse has served as executive director since 2012. 

The Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District covers New Bedford and Dartmouth. The Crapo Hill solid waste landfill is located in Dartmouth. 

The district is governed by a six-member committee representing the two municipalities.
