Watercolor batik workshop coming to Dartmouth Cultural Center
The Dartmouth Cultural Center is offering an opportunity for artists and creatives to explore a distinctive mixed-media technique in its upcoming workshop, “Line & Wash Watercolor Batik on Kinwashi Rice Paper,” led by artist Peter Sterling Turner.
Held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., this hands-on class will teach participants how to combine bold, waterproof marker linework with flowing watercolor washes and wax resist to create luminous, textured works on delicate Kinwashi rice paper. Known for its fibrous and translucent quality, the paper allows for richly layered compositions that blend the traditions of batik with the fluidity of watercolor.
The immersive session is open to all levels and costs $75. A break for lunch will be included.
