Winter storm warning in effect for South Coast

Feb 12, 2017

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the South Coast that will be in effect until 7 p.m. Monday night.

Snow accumulation is expected to be at least 4 inches and up to 8 inches of snow. Winds are predicted to be between 10 and 20 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. A high wind watch remains in effect Monday morning through Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy snow may make roads impassable and produce power outages due to the weight of the snow on tree limbs and power lines.

The National Weather Service predicts that Sunday will bring a mix of precipitation, with heavy snow this afternoon, possible sleet mix, and a freezing drizzle before returning to a snowfall on Monday morning.
