Zulmira Maria Antonio (Myra), 74, of South Dartmouth passed away on the morning of Saturday, February 8, 2020.

Born on December 6, 1945 in Pedro Miguel, Faial, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Senorinha (Amaral) Vargas. 

She is survived by her husband Joao Antonio and her 2 sons plus 5 grandchildren. Her son, Jeff Antonio with children Phoebe and Sebastian of Fairhaven, and son Mike Antonio, wife Erin Senay and children Issac, Silas and Caris of Westport. 

Zulmira loved her family and was extremely close to her siblings; the late Augusta Lemos of South Dartmouth, the late Tina Jacinto of South Dartmouth, the late Joe Vargas of South Dartmouth as well as her 2 surviving sisters, Ceu Vargas of North Dartmouth and Edwina Santos of South Dartmouth and her husband Manuel as well as brother-in-law Jose Jacinto.  She also leaves behind a very large but tight-knit extended family including nieces and nephews that she loved very much. 

Zulmira was the life of the party and could always be counted on for a laugh or two. She was well known to most  for her hilarious but often off-color, sense of humor. She was also very well known for her kind and compassionate spirit, she loved helping others and her generous nature had no limits.

She was a creative soul who enjoyed various arts and crafts projects as well as raising exotic and domestic birds. But above all, she loved spending time with her family most. She was a strong and loving mother, a devoted wife a loyal sister and an indispensable friend to all. She will be sorely missed.  

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd, S. Dartmouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Julie Billiart Parish, 494 Slocum Road, Dartmouth, MA 02747. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
