Hawthorn Medical Associates recently awarded a $3,000 scholarship to Dartmouth High School graduating senior Alexandra Chiquito at an awards ceremony at Hawthorn Medical in Dartmouth.

In the fall, Chiquito will attend the University of Rhode Island to pursue a Doctorate of Pharmacy.

Nine years ago, Hawthorn Medical Associates established an annual scholarship program for eight graduating seniors in local public high schools who are pursuing higher education to become healthcare professionals. Each student receives a $3,000 scholarship. With this year’s recipients, Hawthorn Medical has awarded a total of $201,000 to 67 outstanding students to help support them in their goal.

Hawthorn Medical’s scholarship program promotes and encourages academic preparation in the field of healthcare in areas such as nursing; pre-med; radiological technology; laboratory sciences; pharmacy; occupational, physical and respiratory therapy; certified medical assistant; or other health-related fields.
