Unpaid property taxes are due Aug. 19

The vast majority of Dartmouth’s taxpayers have paid their dues on time, but a few stragglers remain.

At Monday night’s Select Board meeting, Finance Director Greg Barnes noted that some properties will be advertised if tax money isn’t received by Aug. 19. A list of those who still owe is available at the Town of Dartmouth website. The list can be viewed here.

“We have whittled down that list, but we still have about 155 separate parcels — a number of them [from] the same taxpayer. I encourage all to look at that list,” said Barnes.

“Please understand that if you do not pay your taxes by August 19, there will be a lien put on the parcel for which those taxes are owed. It’s very important that people look at that list and make every effort possible to pay what is owed,” he said.

He added that those with outstanding taxes comprise a small minority of property owners.

“On a very positive note, we have 13,750 taxable parcels in town. I want to commend the taxpayers who have paid. We enjoy over a 99 percent collection rate,” said Barnes.

“For those that have fallen behind, please make every effort to pay.”
