On Aug. 17, Dartmouth Police arrested Thomas Ramos, 53, after neighbors spotted him inside a vacant house.

Ramos, who was identified as a homeless man, told the police officers that he had purchased the home and was living there. Ramos claimed to have keys for all the locks. It was confirmed that he did have working keys to the residence, police said.

An officer then contacted the realtor responsible for the house and confirmed that Ramos did not belong there. The realtor told police they knew of Ramos and that he has changed locks on vacant properties in the past. The realtor said he then claims to live in those homes when questioned.

According to police, Ramos has been charged with breaking and entering into a building during the daytime and destruction of property valued over $250.
