Police searching for driver who struck an officer
A police office was struck by a car on Feb. 28, after the driver sped off during a motor vehicle stop.
The officer, Darren Emond, was evaluated for minor injuries and was cleared to return to work.
Emond had pulled over Anthony Carvalho, 44, at approximately 10 a.m. on State Road. Carvalho fled from the scene during the stop, clipping Emond and sending police on a chase into Westport. Dartmouth police called off the chase to ensure the safety of Westport residents.
Carvalho, who lives in the Greater Fall River area, has an active warrant for his arrest.
The Dartmouth Police Department asks anyone with information that could help locate Carvalho to contact Detective Kyle Costa at 508-910-1755 or to send the department a private message via the police’s Facebook page.
On the department’s Facebook page, the police posted a warning to Carvalho: “You will eventually be located and arrested, so please think about turning yourself in before you make things worse for yourself.”
