South Coast Bikeway Alliance holds sixth annual Bike Summit
The South Coast Bikeway Alliance will be holding its sixth annual Bike Summit on Thursday, March 24 at White's of Westport. This year's summit focuses on organizing safe riding groups. The welcoming reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the speaker portion will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Erin Reed of "Safe Routes to School" will be the keynote speaker. The Massachusetts Safe Routes to School program will educate students, parents and community members on the value of walking and bicycling for travel to and from school.
Guest panelists for young riding groups include representatives from Trips for Kids New Bedford, Cycle Kids and Britland Park Dirt and Pump Track.
Guest panelists for the adult portion will include the Bay Area Senior Cyclists, Top of the Hill Gang, Narragansett Bay Wheelmen and the Fall River Bicycle Committee.
The summit also marks the beginning of the third annual South Coast Summer Bike Challenge. As part of the National Bike Challenge participants are encouraged to record their miles from May 1 to Labor Day. Registration info for the Bike Challenge will be available.
