A Florida man was arrested at the Moby Dick Motel on State Road on May 26 for sex and drug crimes he allegedly committed in Alabama, according to Dartmouth Police.

Detectives Mark Zielinski, Sean McGuire, Kyle Costa, and Derek Sousa arrested George Bryan Smelcer, 44, of Panama City, Florida on outstanding warrants associated with the crimes at approximately 11:15 a.m. at the motel.

Smelcer was charged in Massachusetts with being a fugitive from justice, and was arraigned in New Bedford District Court.
