Learn about the Helfand family
The Dartmouth Historical and Arts Society will be hosting a moderated discussion about Dartmouth’s Helfand family on Sunday, July 24 from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Russells Mills Schoolhouse, 1205 Russells Mills Road.
The discussion will center on the Helfand family, which traces its roots in Dartmouth back to William and Harry Helfand, two brothers from Minsk, Russia who emigrated to the United States in the early 1900s. They married sisters Anna and Gussie Rosovsky, and raised a total of 20 children while operating two dairy farms.
Two Helfand sisters will be guests at the discussion along with Helfand's schoolmates, who will share their memories about the family, farm and life at Dartmouth High School in the 1930s.
