Victor J. Ladetto, 83

Victor J. Ladetto, 83, of Dartmouth died peacefully on November 14 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Ann Marie (Murphy) Ladetto.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Victor and Florence L. (Kelley) Ladetto, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life.

Ladetto was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Dartmouth.

He was a teacher in the Dartmouth School System for ten years and principal of the Cushman School for 29 years.

Ladetto received a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Colby College and a Masters Degree in Education from Bridgewater State College. He was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the National Education Association.

Ladetto was a sergeant in the 592nd Artillery Battalion in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.

The family would like to extend its appreciation for the care that Victor received at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home and at St. Luke's Hospital.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dr. John V. Ladetto and his wife Dr. Stephanie M. Peduto; a daughter, Katherine A. Ladetto and her husband Dr. Maciej T. Knapczyk; four grandchildren, Allison G. and Reece J. Ladetto, and Margaret S. and Izabella V. Knapczyk; a brother, Robert J. Ladetto and his wife Roberta; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was the father of the late David M. Ladetto, the brother of the late Marilyn S. Pettengill, and the brother-in-law of the late Albert F. Anderson.

His memorial mass will be celebrated on November 18 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Visiting hours are on November 17, 4-8 p.m. in the Saunders Dwyer Funeral Home, located at 495 Park St., New Bedford.
