Evelyn Lima, 91

Evelyn (Mello) Lima, 91, of Dartmouth, died peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital on Sunday, November 27, 2016. She was the widow of Lionel Lima, to whom she was married for 58 years.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Isabel (Fagundes) and Manuel T. Mello, Mrs. Lima was a lifelong area resident. A graduate of New Bedford High School, she was a homemaker and was formerly employed as a bookkeeper at Cornell Dubilier.

A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, she loved being with her family, who will miss her dearly. Over the years, her interests included sewing, knitting, embroidery, rug braiding, reading, and listening to local talk radio. An avid sports fan, she especially enjoyed the Boston Red Sox.

She is survived by two sons: Steven Lima and his wife Anne, of Terre Haute, IN, and Kenneth Lima of Dartmouth; one daughter, Susan Lima of Milwaukee, WI; two grandchildren, John and Elise Lima, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her five siblings: Adelaide Souza, Mary Campos, Valentine Perry, Manuel Mello, Jr., and Edward Mello.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 2, 10-11 a.m. and services will begin at 11 a.m. at the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
