Ring in spring with a bird walk.

Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary’s Thursday morning bird walks begin at 8 a.m. Sanctuary staff will lead a three-hour tour through the property in search of migratory birds. The cost is $10 per person for Mass Audubon members; $12 for non-members. Pre-registration is required; visit massaudubon.org/allenspond or call (508) 636-2437.

Saturday, May 6

Search for birds...

The Lloyd Center’s spring bird walk starts at 7 a.m. at the center’s 430 Potomska Road location. The cost is $3 for Lloyd Center members, $5 for nonmembers, and $2 for children under 12. For more information, visit lloydcenter.org or call (508) 990-0505, x23.

Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary’s day-long herpetology field exploration event begins at 9 a.m. The event will lead guests to vernal pools, salt marshes, and the beach in search of snakes, frogs, toads, and salamanders. The cost is $100 for members, $120 for non-members. Pre-registration is required; visit massaudubon.org or call (508) 636-2437 for more information.

Dartmouth youth will participate in Lemonade Day — a program focused on teaching youth the entrepreneurial skills involved with starting, owning, and operating their own businesses — is coming to Dartmouth.

Participants can be found at the following locations on May 6. Most stands will be open by noon.

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s observatory will host an open house at 8:30 p.m. Viewings occur through the observatory’s 16-inch telescope. The event will only take place if there are clear skies. For more info or cancellation updates, visit assne.org or call (508) 999-8715.

Dust off those running shoes.

The Potter 5K kicks off at the District No. 3 fire station, located at 140 Cross Road, at 10 a.m. The annual 5K raises money to support the school’s PTO. Registration before May 7 is $20; race day registration is $25. Registration will open at 8:30 a.m. on race day. Learn about big storms.

The Dartmouth Historical and Arts Society’s Sunday lecture series will include a discussion on the storms that have hit the region, hosted by long-time South Coast resident Cukie Macomber. The talk begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Russells Mills Schoolhouse, located at 1205 Russells Mills Road.
