Learn to kayak.
Dartmouth Parks and Recreation Department has teamed up with Osprey Sea & Surf will host a three-hour kayaking session for kids at Apponagansett Park at 9:30 a.m. The fee is $50. Sessions include on-land lessons about equipment and basic paddle strokes, and in-water games and skill developments. Classes are suited for kids aged 11-15.
Catch a movie.
Dartmouth Parks and Recreation Department will host a movie night at Apponagansett Park at 8:30 p.m., featuring the PG-rated DreamWorks animation "The Boss Baby." Tickets are $10 per car. Gates will open at 7:30 p.m. The rain date is August 26.
Saturday, August 26
Raise the roof.
Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust will host its annual Barn Bash fundraiser at the Sylvan Nursery Barn, 5:30-10 p.m. The annual event will feature food and drinks from local venues, and a Beatles tribute band. Enjoy a chicken dinner.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Dartmouth Veterans of Foreign Wars will host a chicken dinner at its 144 Cross Road location at 1 p.m. Tickets are $15 each. Funds raised during the event will go towards scholarships. For more information, contact Jim Collins at (508) 992-1607.
Monday, August 28
Get a flu shot.
The Board of Health and Rite Aid will host a seasonal flu clinic for those 18 and older at Dartmouth Town Hall in room 103, 3-6 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a health insurance card. There is a $0 copay with most insurance plans. For more information, contact the Board of Health (508-910-1804) or Rachel at Rite Aid (508-990-3875) between Monday and Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
