Pony League takes tournament for first time in 15 years

Alongside taking the Steele Tournament against regional opponents, the Dartmouth Pony League has had another grand slam win.
Its 12-2 victory on August 13 against Greater New Bedford is the first tournament win the team has seen in 15 years. The 12-player team also took wins against Swansea and Somerset-Berkley.
"The Greater New Bedford team has players from all around, so that's why it's an accomplishment for a small team like ours to win the championship," said tournament organizer Jim Vieira. "They stepped up and played really, really well."
In addition to the championship trophies, players earned individual trophies for their outstanding efforts in fielding, pitching, and hitting. Players Harvey Berube and Coen Sylvia received the Most Valuable Player and Outstanding Pitching awards for the tournament, respectively.
