As Hurricane Jose steers away from Massachusetts, Dartmouth could be faced with rain and wind, but not a whole lot else as a tropical storm warning for the region has been lifted.

Despite missing a direct hit from the storm, the National Weather Service initially issued a tropical storm warning covering the entire South Coast region along with the Cape and Islands early Tuesday morning. The warning advises peak wind during the storm could average between 15-25 MPH with gusts up to 45 MPH on Wednesday. Peak rainfall is predicted to be between 1-3 inches with locally higher amounts.

Late Tuesday night, the tropical storm warning was scaled back to just the Cape and Islands, although a high surf advisory remains through Thursday night, and a wind advisory remains until 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Wind gusts of up to 45 MPH may be possible, with winds otherwise between 15-20 MPH. Scattered power outages could still occur and the wind may be powerful enough to knock down tree limbs

The hurricane is expected to pass 100 miles southeast of Nantucket on Wednesday, at which point it is forecast to weaken into a tropical storm.
