Historical society to screen film on Dartmouth home

Jan 8, 2018

The Dartmouth Historical and Arts Society will host a screening of a film chronicling the history of a historically significant Dartmouth house.

The film, called “An Old House on an Old Road in Old Dartmouth” will be shown at January 21, 2:30 p.m. at the society’s 1250 Russells Mills Road headquarters, during the Sunday afternoon lecture series.

The 35-minute film features the 1702 Cummings House, located on Old Westport Road. It was produced by a group of local history buffs who went on a tour of the house in 2015, and has been in production for more than two years. It includes video of the tour, artistic representations, and historical photographs.

The house has a long list of occupants affiliated with Dartmouth history, covering many familiar family names.

After the screening of the film, a questions-and-answers session and a discussion period will be held. Light refreshments will be served. The suggested donation to attend is $5.
