Brenda M. Mello, 73

Brenda M. Mello, 73, of Dartmouth, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Richard Mello with whom she shared 54 years of marriage.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Gil and Cecelia (Frazier) DeMello, she had resided in Dartmouth for the past 45 years. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1962 and attended Kinyon Campbell Business School.

Mello had worked at Big G grocery store and as a bookkeeper at Silverstein's for many years. Most recently she was a volunteer teaching assistant at East Fairhaven School. Brenda enjoyed traveling, especially cruises and excelled at puzzle making. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Dana Mello-Doucette and her husband David, David Mello and his companion Tracy Oliveira and Kelley Mello and her companion John Rogers; her grandchildren, Karli Mello, Kate Mello and Delaney Doucette; two nieces Pamela Almeida and Gina Gonsalves; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Barbara and Carl Gonsalves; and her close cousins Loretta Pacheco, Dolores Gomes, Marla Marino, and Richard "Bucky" DeMello.

Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 27 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth.
