Brookdale hosts retirement party for police chief

Feb 5, 2018

Retiring Dartmouth Police Chief Bob Szala enjoyed one last send-off: a retirement party held in his honor at Brookdale Village.

Despite snow falling, fellow Dartmouth Police officers and administrators turned out to celebrate all that Szala has done for the Town of Dartmouth, according to Ann LaMere, Brookedale's Sales and Marketing Manager.

Szala officially announced his retirement on December 19, 2017. In a letter to the Select Board, he  cited his health as his reason for stepping down. He had been with the department for 34 years, and served as its chief since 2015.

He suffered a heart attack in April, and had been out of work since then.
