Bikeway alliance announces yearly meeting

Mar 6, 2018

The South Coast Bikeway Alliance’s 8th Annual Bike Summit is March 22 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Fort Taber Community Center in New Bedford.

There will be a welcoming reception where representatives from local organizations will be able to answer people’s questions. Attendees will also be able to meet bikeway advocates, bicycle enthusiasts along with city and town officials, among others. The speakers program will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

This year’s summit will center on “Closing the Gaps,” which will discuss the various pathway projects going on in the South Coast. The alliance will specifically talk about projects planned for Dartmouth, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Marion, Mattapoisett and Wareham. People will also learn about the idea of linking New Bedford and Fall River with a 3.5 mile greenway in rural areas north of I-195. Anyone is welcomed to the free event.

Light refreshments will be served and people are asked to pre-register at www.southcoastbikeway.com on the events calendar.
