Carlos H. Jeronimo, 57, of Dartmouth, died on March 9, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital.

He was the son of Isabel M. (Cosme) Jeronimo of Dartmouth, the late Carlos M. Jeronimo and brother to the late Luisa Jeronimo.

Carlos was born in Povoacao, St. Michael, Azores and came to the U.S. in 1967. Carlos was a Boy Scout until the age of 15. An accident left Carlos a quadriplegic, but despite his physical limitations he lived life to the fullest.

Carlos loved life and enjoyed family gatherings, especially when surrounded by his beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Carlos also found enjoyment in driving his custom van to the beaches, camping and spending time outdoors. He dabbled in the stock market, loved history, had an extensive library of movies and collected western memorabilia.

Carlos faced many challenges in life but was brave and strong throughout, facing each and every challenge with courage and determination. Carlos had a strong will to live and fought a long battle. To those who knew him well, Carlos will always be a hero.

His family includes his mother; one brother, Mario Jeronimo and his wife, Ana, of Dartmouth; three sisters, Lenea J. Correia and her husband Jose of New Bedford, Aline Jeronimo and her fiancé, Joe Azevedo of Somerset, and Isabel M. Ribeiro and her husband Peter of Dartmouth; 10 nieces and nephews, Amanda, Raul, Nicholas, Melissa, Heather, Andrew, Daniel, Austin, Carlos and Karina and 6 great-nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours in the funeral home Wednesday evening, 5-8 p.m. His funeral will be conducted Thursday morning 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated in St. Mary Church, So. Dartmouth at 10:00. Interment is private.

Carlos generously donated to charities associated with children, therefore, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Development Office, Shriners Hospitals For Children-Boston, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Aubertine-Lopes Funeral Home, 129 Allen Street, New Bedford.
