Mary R. Hanson, 97, of Dartmouth, passed away on March 9, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Swansea.

She was the wife of the late John Hanson.

Born in Cambridge, a daughter of the late Peter and Concettina (Amenta) Barbagallo, she had resided in Dartmouth for the past 36 years. She was a graduate of Somerville High School.

Hanson had worked in education sales for the film industry and also at Bristol Community College in the financial aid department. She loved playing cards, especially Blackjack, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Her family includes three daughters, Geraldine Daniels and husband William of Dartmouth, Dianne Schweigert and husband Paul of Swansea and Christine Braun and husband Robert of N. Aurora, IL; three brothers, Joseph Barbagallo of Canaan, NH, Ronald Barbagallo of Boston and Robert Barbagallo of Wakefield; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Concettina “Joan”, Gloria, Albert, Charles and Pasquale “Pat” Barbagallo.

Her funeral will be held on March 17 at 9 a.m. from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 783 Dartmouth Street in Dartmouth. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
