A New Bedford man was arrested for allegedly abusing a dog on May 18, according to Dartmouth Police.

After receiving a report Dartmouth Police arrived at Colonial Way at approximately 6:50 p.m. to Gregory Ostiguy, 50, beating a dog with baseball bat inside a vehicle.

Ostiguy has been charged with cruelty to animals. The dog was taken to the vet where it was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
