Morton Kobrin, 82, passed away on June 6, 2018.

Born in Massachusetts, he grew up in Wareham and attended Wareham public schools. Shortly after graduating from Northeastern University, he opened Star Jewelers, a retail shop in Wareham, MA. He moved the store from Wareham to Pocasset, MA in 1992, which he ran until his retirement.

Mort was a member of the Freemasons and a docent at the New Bedford Whaling Museum.

He and his wife, Sonia, lived in Dartmouth for 35 years and were members of Tiferath Israel Congregation in New Bedford for the same, until moving to New Jersey in 2006.

An avid tennis player and a collector of all things, he enjoyed fixing and building items for the house.

Mort loved to travel, and was glad to relocate to New Jersey to be close to his family, especially his grandchildren. He lived by his favorite saying "everything is a learning experience."

Mort is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sonia Kobrin; a son, Lewis Kobrin; a daughter, Leslie Kobrin; a brother, Alvin Kobrin; a sister, Ruth Glaser; and two grandchildren, Jason and Jeremy Kobrin.

Funeral services and burial were Friday, June 8 at Tifereth Israel Cemetery, 1400 Old Plainville Rd, New Bedford, MA 02745. Memorial contributions are respectfully requested to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
