Gear stolen from firefighter's pickup truck

Jul 10, 2018

Dartmouth Fire District No. 1 officials are asking for the public’s help in locating critical safety equipment stolen from a firefighter’s car.

The department put the call out on its Facebook page after a firefighter’s turnout gear -- personal protective clothing worn by firefighters while responding to calls -- was stolen from his pickup truck, which was parked outside of his home at the time. The theft occurred on July 8.

The gear is described as being tan with yellow reflective stripes. DFD1 is written on the back of the jacket component. Due to the theft, the firefighter is temporarily sidelined from responding to calls.

Anyone with information should contact the Dartmouth Police Department or Fire District No. 1 at (508) 996-1596 and ask to speak to Deputy Bettencourt.
