Drive-in to some artists’ studios.

The 11th annual Art Drive juried studio tour will run from Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. During the event, the public are invited to stop by and take a tour of artists’ studios throughout the South Coast. A total of 28 artists from Dartmouth and Westport are participating. Artists will also host demonstrations at certain times. Saturday, August 11

Enjoy a traditional New England feast.

The Smith Neck Friends is hosting their traditional New England Clambake, which they have hosted for the past six decades. Preparations begin at 8:30 a.m. with a massive wood and rock fire, quahogs being ground for chowder, sausages and fish being stuffed into bags, and tender clams being carefully washed. Everything is bagged and placed in wooden crates where it is cooked on red-hot rocks. Remember to bring your own silverware. Tickets are $47.00 for adults and $23 for children under 12. Call Anne Lopoulos @ 508-994-5816 to purchase your tickets. The event will run from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Meetinghouse at 594 Smith Neck Rd.

Eyes to the skies for meteor shower.

Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary will host a viewing of the Perseid Meteor Shower at its Stone Barn Farm property, 786 E. Horseneck Road, 8-11 p.m. Those attending should bring a telescope or binoculars, although they are not required to watch the meteor shower. It will be outdoors, so observers should bring a chair and blanket, insect repellant, water, snacks, and dress in layers. The cost to attend is $10 for Mass Audubon members and $12 for non-members. Take a hike.

The Appalachian Mountain Club will lead a 3-mile leisurely hike through Destruction Brook Woods beginning at 10 a.m. The hike is suitable for families with children ages 3-10. Those attending are asked to wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring water, a snack, sunscreen, and insect repellant. Steady rain will cancel. The Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership and the Livestock Institute of Southern New England will be hosting their 4th Annual Farm to Tapas event from 4 - 7 p.m., rain or shine, at Barney’s Joy Creek Farm at 12 Barney’s Joy Road in South Dartmouth. This twist on the traditional farm to table dinner will be hosted by over a dozen local restaurants and caterers using local ingredients to prepare their own tapas station. Complimentary local beer, wine, and cocktails will also be served. The proceeds from this event support SEMAP and TLI’s programs and educational offerings for local farmers. Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary's Junior Bird Club will meet at 6 p.m. for a hike along the sanctuary's Beach Loop Trail. The free program is open to children and adults of all ages, and meets each month to focus on a variety of local species and hands-on field studies. VIsit massaudubon.org for more information.
