Law enforcement converged on Dartmouth High School on March 1 after what district officials are calling a "low level threat" was reported.

According to Superintendent Bonny Gifford, a written bomb threat was discovered in a girls bathroom at the school at around 10:30 a.m. The written threat indicated a bomb would be going off in the school.

The threat was reported, and district officials and law enforcement were contacted. Officials determined the threat was of a “low level,” but K9 units were called to the school to sweep the building. Students, staff, and teachers were ordered to shelter in place.

“We follow the State Police bomb squad threat assessment protocol,” Gifford said. “It’s a low level threat, but we always like to the have the dogs come in and sweep the buildings, just to make sure everyone feels safe.”

At 12:55 p.m., about two hours after the incident first began, the shelter in place was lifted.
