Dartmouth’s newest ‘All Stars’ celebrate latest performance
For the first time ever, Dartmouth girls were invited to participate in the state’s All Star Games for lacrosse on Sunday, Aug. 11, according to Anthony Savastano, assistant coach.
This was also the first year Dartmouth Youth Lacrosse Club girls were able to add a grades seven and eight select team in addition to its standard town teams at that age range, according to Savastano. Along with Savastano, the team has Head Coach Brent Desirey and assistant coaches Courtney Cohen and Kelsea Bettencourt.
Three Dartmouth girls, one seventh grader, Tenley Simmons, and two eighth graders, Elysia Brown Savastano and Isabella Renzo, were chosen to participate in the girls’ Select All Star games.
The two Dartmouth eighth graders were placed on opposing teams, Bella being on Red and Elysia being on White, with the White team winning the first playoff game 16 – 11.
“Both performed well with Bella scoring a goal and Elysia getting 2 assists,” Savastano said. “We were happy with our performance given that it was the first year for such a team.”
