Join the Powwow
Head to Round the Bend Farm for the Wampanoag Experience Powwow to participate in Native arts and crafts, storytelling, traditional games and more.
The event will occur rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 92 Allens Neck Road.
The powwow will highlight Native skills, practices and history through storytelling, drumming and demonstrations of skills and cultural Wampanoag practices.
There will be a farmer’s market with local food and wares, children’s activities and an engagement area.
Tickets for admission $5 or free for those under 10 on the farm’s website.
Space prose
The Dartmouth Cultural Center is hosting Boston-based poet Matthew Porto for a poetry read. Porto will read from his book of poetry, Moon Grammar, and the event will be interspersed with comments and conversations with writer Charlie Emerson Riggs. There will also be a Q&A.
The event starts at 6 p.m. and doors open at 5:30 p.m. at 404 Elm Street. Admission is free, and light refreshments will be provided.
Sunday, Oct. 6
A furry blessing
All are invited to bless their pets and stuffed animals at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 10 a.m. at 351 Elm Street.
The Blessing of Animals and Pets event will honor the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi and blessing will take place in the context of a prayer service. All pets are welcomed to attend, including goldfish, snakes and turtles.
Participants should have their pets on a leash, in a pet carrier, cage or aquarium.
Children are also invited to bring their stuffed animals. Everyone is invited, regardless of their current or former faith.
