Applications open now for parks department summer roles
Every summer season, the Dartmouth Parks & Recreation Department begins preparing by hiring approximately 50 seasonal summer employees to work as lifeguards, gate guards, laborers, concession staff, and playground instructors.
Applications for those positions in the 2025 summer season are open now and can be completed on Parks & Recreation page of the Town’s website, https://www.town.dartmouth.ma.us/259/Employment.
The new-hire application is detailed and must be completed thoroughly. A condensed version of the application is available for re-hires. Questions can be directed to the Parks & Recreation office at 508-910-1812.
The final application deadline for anyone wishing to be considered for the 2024 season is March 28 for returning applicants and April 11 for new applicants.
Strict policies and procedures have been instituted to ensure the quality of the staff and the safety of all citizens and children using the beaches and playground centers.
Interviews will be scheduled after school the week of May 5 for selected applicants. Applicants will not be made aware of their interview time until a week prior to the interview.
Those applicants selected for hire will be notified within one week from the interview date and will be required to attend the mandatory orientation on June 2.
Lifeguards are subject to a mandatory swim test conducted at Round Hill on May 28. Final acceptance for hiring is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of this test.
All summer hires must complete a CPR/AED certification course set up through Parks & Recreation by the ambulance company STAT.
