Two Dartmouth teams head to the Round of 8

As the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association’s tournaments progress, a number of teams hang up their uniforms for the winter. 

However, Dartmouth High School girls basketball, finishing its season with an 18-2 record, continues onto the Round of 8, advancing further than they had with the same record last season.

The girls will go up against the tournament’s seventh-seed, Whitman-Hanson Regional High School, on Friday, March 7 at 6 p.m. in Dartmouth.

Bishop Stang’s Division 1 girls ice hockey team ended its season with a 14-5-1 record, ranking 15th in the division, marking a first for the team. For the first time in its program history, the girls headed out for the playoffs this season and they are making it their own. Defeating Notre Dame Academy, 4-0, on Saturday, March 1 in the Sweet 16, the team will head to Bourne to face Bishop Feehan High School on Thursday, March 6 at 7:15 p.m.

Dartmouth High School boys basketball team ended its season with a record of 9-11. Making it to the first round of playoffs, the team lost in a game against Burncoat High School, 69-80, Thursday, Feb. 27.

Bishop Stang High School, also in Division 2, earned itself a 38-seed spot with its even record of 10-10. The Spartans faced off against Minnechaug Regional High School, losing 50-64, in the preliminary round on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

Dartmouth High School boys ice hockey finished its season with a 9-8-3 record, ranking as the 17th seed in Division 2. However, the boys lost in the Round of 32 to Norwood High School, 2-10, on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
