It Takes a Chamber Village: Cranberry Country Chamber Food & Electronics Drive

May 12, 2023

In April, the Cranberry Country Chamber of Commerce and its Community Involvement Council held a Food and Electronics Drive to support two local food pantries, the Sacred Heart Food Pantry in Middleboro and Shane Gives Thanks Food Pantry in Carver.  Together with their sponsors, about 1,500 pounds of non-perishable food each were provided to both panties: 3,000 pounds in total!  This annual food drive provides an opportunity for the community to drop off their old electronics when donating non-perishable items to stock the pantries.  The Junkluggers of Southeastern MA & RI generously supports and sponsors this event each year and safely recycles or repurposes all electronics.

In conjunction with this effort, El Mariachis in Wareham held a Donation by Dining event in April with a percentage of their sales that evening be donated to both food pantries.  On May 10, members of the Cranberry Country Chamber and both food pantries visited El Mariachis to accept the checks given to each representative of the pantry.  El Mariachis/Wareham has been hosting these types of events for local nonprofit organizations.

The Cranberry Country Chamber partnered with their members to host the food and electronics drop off:  North Easton Savings Bank in Middleboro and in Carver and Muckey’s Liquors in Lakeville.  In addition, several chamber members collected food at their businesses to donate to both pantries: First Citizens Federal Credit Union/Raynham, Jack Conway, NerdsToGo, Old Colony YMCA, Rockland Trust, ServiceMaster South Shore.

The  Cranberry Country Chamber and its Community Involvement Council meet each month to discuss and plan several campaigns each year to support the 9 communities it represents from volunteering opportunities to providing support and giving back in some way.  Its  motto is “It Takes a Chamber Village.”
