5K to benefit veterans

Nov 3, 2022

On Friday, Nov. 11, UMass Dartmouth will host the first annual Run for Veterans 5K on campus.

The run is being conducted by the Student Veterans Assistance Office, in collaboration with the UMass Dartmouth Student Activities, Involvement, and Leadership Office.

Check-in will open at 8 a.m. on the day of the race.

A special opening ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. for all runners, and the run itself will kick off at 9:30 a.m.

All runners will receive a timing chip to record accurate start/finish times, and medals will be awarded to the top three runners in each age category (Under 18, 18-25, 26-40, 41-64, and 65+).

Snacks will be provided after the run for all participants to recharge. Runners will get a runner's packet, including a custom bib, an event t-shirt, and a special gift.

All runners and other participants should park in Lots 5, 6, or 8 and check in at the track across from Lot 8.

Proceeds from the run will be used to create care packages for local veterans in need. The event was conceived and planned by the UMass Dartmouth Student Veterans Assistance Office.

The event is open to the public, but attendees must register. To sign up, visit webapps2.umassd.edu/events/sail/.
